The Salinas Valley is perfectly situated 120 miles south of San Francisco, 55 miles south of San Jose and 320 miles north of Los Angeles. A mere 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay, Salinas serves as the seat of Monterey County. The vast valley expands from the Monterey Bay along Highway 101 hosting thousands of acres of agricultural land between the phenomenal Santa Lucia and Gabilan Mountain Ranges. In addition to the multibillion-dollar agricultural industry, the valley's climate is ideal for the floral industry and grape vineyards which are tended to by world-famous vintners. Salinas' moderate climate encourages year round use of its parks, golf courses, tennis courts, and swimming pools. The Salinas Community Center regularly hosts symphonies, ballets, concerts, and conventions. As home of the National Steinbeck Center, Salinas is host to the world famous Steinbeck Festival as well as the California Rodeo, and the California International Air show.
