Premier Sacramento-area anesthesia group joins the nation’s largest physician‐owned, multispecialty partnership to further integrate and enhance patient care at Mercy Hospital of Folsom.
EMERYVILLE, Calif. (August 1, 2021) — Vituity, one of the nation’s largest physician‐owned partnerships, has further expanded its anesthesia practice line through affiliation with Folsom Anesthesia Medical Group (FAMG), a regional leader in anesthesia and perioperative medicine. As Vituity’s newest partners, FAMG’s anesthesiologists will gain access to resources, innovations and best practices developed by Vituity clinicians across the country. Like all Vituity practice locations, the group will remain locally autonomous and will continue to provide excellent clinical care and perioperative leadership at Dignity Health Mercy Hospital of Folsom, Calif.

For over 30 years, FAMG has provided exceptional perioperative care to Mercy Hospital of Folsom. As a democratic, physician-owned practice, FAMG is committed to clinical quality, innovation, and bringing the latest care advances to its community hospital patients. In addition to providing anesthesia services for general and orthopedic surgery, obstetrics, and several specialist programs, FAMG also supports the region’s newest emergency department.
According to FAMG’s President Dr. Barry Young, MD, joining Vituity was a strategic move that will help the group to better serve its hospital and patients in a challenging healthcare environment. Vituity’s robust practice management team supports billing, contracting, and leadership development while its innovation arm helps bring the latest care advances to its hospital partners.
The group also looks forward to adding new physicians to the practice. “As a small group working in a community setting, Vituity’s track record for recruiting and retaining qualified anesthesiologists from across the country was a deciding factor,” Young says.
Cultural fit was also important to FAMG. “Vituity’s philosophy and operating style are very similar to ours,” Young says. “They’re very supportive toward clinicians and at the same time very quality-driven and clinically focused. Both of our groups strive to do our best for patients while looking to the future and its possibilities. That’s why I feel Vituity is a great match for what we are trying to do at Folsom.”
The affiliation will also benefit Dignity Health Mercy Hospital of Folsom, where Vituity manages the anesthesiology, emergency, and inpatient psychiatry departments. Aligning these key services will create opportunities for clinical integration, process innovation, and program growth and development. Examples include integrated clinical pathways like Vituity’s Fragility Fracture Care Protocol, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, and the SOAR preoperative screening program.
