St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Recognized as the Top Rural Hospital in California

Published December 20, 2022

EMERYVILLE, Calif (December 20, 2022) — Vituity is proud to announce that St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff, California, has been named Top Rural Hospital in California by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American healthcare. St. Elizabeth is one of only 13 hospitals to receive this designation out of more than 2,200 hospitals nationwide and the only one in California to receive it.

“St. Elizabeth Community Hospital has demonstrated that they truly put patients first,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the board, staff, and clinicians whose efforts made this honor possible.”

“This distinction demonstrates our ongoing commitment and unwavering focus on patient safety, which is ingrained in our culture. We are truly dedicated to the health and well-being of our beloved community that we proudly serve and who entrust us in their care,” said Rodger Page, President of St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.

Vituity manages and leads St. Elizabeth’s emergency and anesthesiology departments, two of the departments recognized by this distinction. “Congratulations to the entire St. Elizabeth Community Hospital team,” said David Birdsall, MD, Chief Operations Officer of Vituity. “This is a wonderful testament to the benefit of Vituity’s unique Partnership model that empowers our front-line teams to partner with client hospitals to deliver the best care possible.”

The Leapfrog Group also recently gave St. Elizabeth Community Hospital an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety. The ratings are based on a number of qualifications, including infection rates, maternity care, preventing medication errors, and safer surgery practices.

The highest-performing hospitals on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey are recognized annually with the prestigious Leapfrog Top Hospital award. Top Hospitals have better systems in place to prevent medication errors, provide higher quality maternity care, and lower infection rates, among other laudable qualities. Hospitals that are eligible to receive a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade must have received an A in the most recent round of scoring to be eligible.
