Tele-Neurology Intraoperative Monitoring (IONM) Fellowship

Vituity and Stanford University Combined Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and Management

 

We are proud to offer the first combined fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and management in partnership with Stanford University IONM program. During this 2-year program, candidates spend the first year at the IONM fellowship program at Stanford, a top ranked destination for this specialty.

 

Primary responsibilities include general clinical neurophysiology and its application in the operating room. In the second year, candidates practice Teleneurology clinical services with a Vituity administrative fellowship.

 

Curriculum

This is a 2-year fellowship. First year is spent at Stanford campus in person as standard IOM program applied by Stanford Program.

 

  • General clinical neurophysiology training in EEG and EMG
  • Train in use of botulinum toxin for treatment during a bi-weekly general neurology clinic
  • Clinical research of use of IONM in variety of surgical and endovascular cases

Second year of fellowship is spent with Vituity. Our program, which is generally remote, includes both clinical duties as well as administrative education.

 

  • Tele-neurohospitalist Clinical duties of 12-16 shifts of rounds per month
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and managing organizational change
  • Presenting to large groups and leading large meetings
  • Understanding financial metrics and identifying ways to optimize operational and financial performance

The program includes:

 

  • Didactic curriculum including lectures by subject matter experts, case studies, required readings, leadership development discussions
  • Observation and participation in company meetings, committees and leadership programs including the Board of Directors, Medical Director and/or Divisional Meetings, Collaborative Learning programs, Clinical Education, and the Leadership Summit
  • Fellow project is an opportunity for each fellow to demonstrate their ability to manage and lead. Taking place over six to eight months, fellows engage with Vituity’s leaders and resources to make a lasting, organization-wide impact
